Racing for Pinks - An Unfinished Short Film E-mail
Monday, 12 February 2007 01:59

Racing For Pinks was intended to be a short film combining live action and stop-motion. However, due to unfortunate circumstances, this video won't be completed.

Hope it makes you laugh a skoshy bit.

This is a 9MB Windows Media Video.

So far there aren't any frequently asked questions.  Therefore, I will surmise questions that people might have/answer a couple questions my friends had:

  • Why are the videos in WMV format?

Answer:  Because it is the best format I have found for creating small files with high-quality audio and video.  Doing research online I've found that the vast majority of people think that WMVs "suck," or are total crap.  And yet, I've found no explanation for this except that WMVs are associated with Microsoft.  Get over it people.  Quicktime creates very large files and DivX or XviD creates small videos with horrible horrible compression.  The only thing DivX and XviD can do, as far as I can tell, is create near AVI-quality files at moderate compression.  But that's not what I want for these videos.

  • How did you get the Baby Got Back video to sync with the music?  Is there a program that does that?

Answer:  I stretched the video of the Maj. General to get his mouth to be as close as possible to moving in time with the words.  The program was just Premiere Pro.  Of course, I wish it could've turned out better, but I think it worked fairly well for manipulating him into almost looking like he's saying the new words.  It took about eight hours.

  • Is the Pisit Pornkitti Cancer paper actually for real?

Answer:  Assuming my friends aren't liars, yes.

  • Why is Racing For Pinks unfinished?  Will it ever be finished?

Answer:  Scott Wance, who was helping write and film it had other obligations pop up.  Unfortunately, no, it won't be finished because I no longer live in the DC area.

  • Can I show these videos on my website?

Answer:  Sure!  Just please be sure to give me credit and refer folks to my site.  These videos are not only to entertain myself, but also to hopefully get people interested in the stuff I do.  So any support you can provide would be greatly appreciated.  (Translation:  I want to make more videos, but could use a hand.)

Are you too proud to appease the Peruvian gods? Well, Mr. Person Who Fishes For A Living, maybe that's why you keep getting flooded.

This is a paper originally by a Jeremy Lavine (Period 3). I assume it's real, but it came to me via Dr. Greg von Winckel—the guy I thought I wrote stuff with. Boy, were we wrong.
